rabbit hole remedy (1)_edited.png

When you get buried deep in the rabbit hole, it's...

TIME TO MAKE A CHOICE

Not all things are created equal. Everything in a pile tends to look alike. With a little focus, you can stop digging, decide and DO!

EXERCISE PLAN.png

Distraction is a productivity killer.

Overwhelm destroys your ability to finish things.

You can overcome both in a small way right now.

The small win will grow. You got this.

FIRST AGREEMENT

STOP CHASING MULTIPLE RABBITS!

You wont catch any of them.

"But I like everything!"

  • Keep liking everything. The heart wants what the heart wants. The problem is the lack of results. You are here aren't you? Looking for different results?

  • Agree to only chasing a single rabbit for now.

  • Don't stop till you have captured, cleaned, cooked, and consumed it! It's not literal. We know that's harsh, bunnies are so darn cute. However, isn't it time to have LESS rabbits in your life?

  • What kinda bunny is cutest to you? NO STOP IT!!!

SECOND AGREEMENT

NO NEW RABBITS UNTIL YOU FINISH THIS

Trust your own ability to focus and make confident decisions.

"But whadabout....???"

  • LOOK. You are an expert at creating multiple things to do already. That skill will be there waiting while you take action.

  • There will be time to do another thing. It's not like they are going to accomplish themselves, right?

  • Knock it off already! Consider how many things you can finally complete once you understand our remedy.

STEP ONE

PICK THREE THINGS

This will give you some variety and contrast

"I thought you said one rabbit?"

  • Yes, it still counts. We're just giving you a bigger goal with more fulfillment.

  • We know it would be crazy to think it's possible to pick one to work on. You get to pick three and conquer them all. ONE AT A TIME.

EXERCISE PLAN (1)_edited.png

Don't overthink this!

  • Dig through your piles and pick thee items.

  • Feel good about these three items, and imagine them being DONE!

  • Feeling good will make this remedy a lot more productive.

  • Don't pick any items that make you sag your shoulders or make groany noises. Those are for later.

4_edited.png

Pick three things that are actually possible.

  • The point of this remedy is accomplishment, not frustration.

  • Don't be a jerk to yourself by reaching for the clouds. Maybe now isn't the time to write a book, launch a multi-stage digital marketing campaign or remodel your kitchen.

prioritize because it's so obvious

STEP TWO

PRIORITIZE YOUR RABBITS!!

  • Fixing your car is probably a priority. You can always read a new book while it's getting fixed.

  • Prioritize consequences. Are there things in your pile that will get worse the longer they get put off? Are other people's emotions at risk? Are there agreements that you have made that have not been met? Grab that rabbit and handle it!

Have some positive inner dialog with a personal pep talk!

  • Talk to yourself like you were a friend needing support. Instead of the mean things you might say to yourself, why not say 'good job?'

  • Explain to yourself why this is not a waste of time, no matter how you have tried things in the past.

  • Picture the task completed and describe out loud and write how it feels.

celebrate the win and do it again

STEP THREE

break it down and be specific

6_edited.png

RESOURCES

  • Do you already have what you need? Who knows. YOU will know if you write it all out.

  • Do you need physical materials?

  • Do you need help or assistance from friends or professionals?

  • No detail is too small.

TIME

  • Be nice to yourself. Be honest with the kind of time it will (probably) take to get this done.

  • If you don't schedule it, it probably won't happen.

  • if it requires lot's of steps, plan them out.

  • Set alarms on your phones and alerts in your calendar.

GET IT DONE!

  • Do you like accountability? If you said "NO" immediately, you probably need it. Find some way to be held accountable. You can offer to be a partner to another person's goals as well. It might help you get perspective on just how many people struggle with this.

STEP four

7_edited.png

CELEBRATE

  • Let yourself know that you are worth it. Give yourself a proportionate reward for finishing this thing you just did.

  • How did it feel to finish something? How you feel is paramount. It's hard to do things that matter if you're all bummed out or indifferent. Let the good feelings rewrite your old story about how you never finish anything.

REPEAT

  • Use this remedy to start killing off all the other rabbits!

  • Don't wait too long after your first big win, get momentum and keep it.

MAKE IT YOUR OWN!

  • Our remedy works for us. If you find a better way to modify this for YOUR life, then do it!
